Beam me up, JC/DC

Jean Charles de Castelbajac is one of our favourite fashion designers, especially since he’s developed a taste for creating cool watches. But most recently he’s thrown his hand to set design, with five amazing window displays and a pop-up boutique at London’s famous department store Selfridges.

I wonder what aliens like to buy?

His ‘alienation’ installation in the Wonder Room tells the story of an alien invasion. The backdrops combine fabric prints of sci-fi film landscapes with his trademark cartoon blue sky and white clouds.  Black mannequins with bunny-rabbit ears and bulbs for eyes pose next to a pair of legs dangling out of a spaceship.  Picture frames display black and white images of Henry VIII with the head of an alien… It’s certainly an insight into the mind of this ‘King of Cartoon’ who says, enigmatically, “We are all aliens in this world”.

To tie in with his ‘alienation’ theme, which he and his team have been working on for the last 8 months, JC/DC has also designed a new collection of watches. The UFO watch combines a sleek (and fun) design with light and sound functions, so it’s like having your own baby space ship on your wrist.

We’re currently stocking the JC/DC UFO watch in black, £99 with free UK delivery.
